The bird soared…above, about, across,
against, along, among, around,
at, before, behind, below, beneath,
beside, between, beyond, by, down,
during, except, for, from, in,
inside, into, like, near, of, off,
on, since, to, toward, through,
under, until, up, upon, with,
within…it.

*written after reading a poem by
a poet who had been told by a
writing teacher that the poet didn’t
know how to use prepositions.
I thought she did just fine.
