My passing desktop photo was of a beautiful
lake, an island, pines, sun stars sparkling
on the water,
and there on the lake, a giant
crab, arms outstretched, pincers
pointing, chasing a Canadian Goose.
Stunned at the violence and in disbelief,
I looked back at the crab
just in time before the photo changed
and saw that it was a goose with its
reflection in the water’s stillness.
There were two beautiful geese
sailing in serenity.
