“Christogenesis,” the growth of the “ever greater Christ.” [1]
This Christ has been “growing in stature and wisdom” (Luke 2:52;
read “complexity and consciousness”) these last dozen or so
billion years and is nowhere near finished yet.

-- from a meditation by Richard Rohr
It seems we are on the brink....
Things are such that Christians carry assault rifles
to church and bear them in worship wearing metal
crowns and looking like dutiful members of the
Prussian army with their Kaiser caps, because they
think the rifle is God’s “rod of iron.”
It seems we are on the brink....
Things are such that legislators, caught between
a rock and a hard place where the only hand to help
is the devilish one (with the itchy trigger-finger)
that feeds them, are unable to do the right thing
and bite it.
It seems we are on the brink....
Things are such that police departments and minorities
are caught in a no win/no win stand-off where the
minorities are seemingly always on the short end
of the police stick not to mention gun.
It seems we are on the brink....
Things are such that the two most powerful
people in the world play schoolyard bullies
name-calling while the big buttons await
the eager little, itchy, trigger-fingers.
It seems we are on the brink....
And so we are --
ever on the brink of death and destruction,
seemingly without any sign of cease and desist
on our pint-sized planet.
but ever and always on the brink of the escalation of
evolutionary revelation that Christus Rex, Christ the King,
the God of Creativity is growing, expanding
and has brought us to the brink
of billions of years of universal love --
a self-sacrificial grace to never go extinct
for it is the eternal descent of the Christus Agnus,
(Christ the Lamb), Christa Columba, (Christ the Dove).
