He looked at his forty-two-year-old son
and said, “When you were a year old,
your mother went out and you started
crying and wouldn’t stop and I picked
you up and started to shake you. By
the grace of God, I realized what I was
doing and stopped and put you back in
your crib.” His son, a father, said, “It’s
alright, dad. I’ve come close myself.”
He looked at his thirty-seven-year-old
daughter, a mother, and told her about
what he did to her brother when her bro-
ther was a one-year-old. She said, “I
understand, dad. I’ve come close.” He
started to cry.
